I'm the front-man of It's WordPress. I come from a diverse array of backgrounds, enjoying the opportunity to expand my knowledge base and skill set by re-inventing myself. I enjoy environments that focus on emerging information, technology and concepts. I put on the technical hat in my early 20s and never really looked back. I'm love technology and the internet, as well as the outdoors and avidly hike, kayak and camp every chance I get.

I was just wondering what are the licence terms on those types of wordpress themes.
Under what licence are they distributed? Can they be used for commercial purposes? Basically, my question is – if a theme is free, what am I allowed and not allowed to do with it?I would like to know as much as possible
Thanks.

Good question and thanks for dropping by to ask it. Themes that are featured on WordPress.org are required to fall under GPL (General Public License). You can read the details at the official WordPress site http://wordpress.org/news/2009/07/themes-are-gpl-too/ and http://wordpress.org/about/gpl/ . However, the short version can be generalized for us non-lawyers in “human” as: http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_General_Public_License
